We know you have your routine down at home when it comes to eliminating single-use plastic. But when we leave our houses or travel far from home, having to buy bottled water when we can’t find a refill station or grabbing plastic-wrapped to-go food when we’ve run out of snacks from home presents a very stressful situation.

Plastic bottles and food packaging are one of the biggest polluters on the planet, and while efforts to use less and reuse more have been on the rise, 8 million tons of plastic still end up in the ocean every year. That quantity is expected to triple in twenty years. To save our planet, we must go well beyond the three R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle) and work toward eliminating plastics altogether – for our own health and that of our planet.

One of our favorite ways to use this bowl is when ordering to-go food. If the establishment allows, you can offer your Collapsible Bowl as a replacement for a single-use plastic container or bag. We love these pint cups as a way to avoid not only a paper cup, but also the plastic lid and straw that inevitably comes with it.

Ask your barista if they’d whip up a cold caffeinated beverage of choice in your reusable cup instead (this sort of practice was put on hold during the pandemic, but many places are comfortable starting it back up).

Summer is also the season of outdoor parties and concerts. Fun for you, not so much for the planet when plastic Solo cups rear their ugly head. Solo cups are made from a type of plastic called polystyrene and aren’t as recyclable as you think. Because polystyrene is derived from petroleum products, this plastic doesn’t decompose. If burned as a way of disposal, they also give off gas that is harmful to humans.
