Reduce your Plastic Footprint at Outdoor Parties this Summer

Reimagine Outdoor Gatherings This Summer with HYDAWAY Tumblers

Summer is underway and that means beach days, outdoor parties, and backyard BBQs are in full swing. With warm temperatures and the ambition to spend as much time outdoors as possible, folks will squeeze every last drop of sunshine out of the short-yet-sweet summer months.

One of the perks of hosting an open-air party is the lack of clean-up. Crumbs on the ground aren’t a concern, and most hosts opt for disposable plates, cups, and cutlery that can easily be dumped into a trash bag, and voila – the yard is clean and your party was a success.  It unfortunately makes sense that because of the increase in outdoor events, we see an uptick in single-use plastic in the summer months.

You’ll likely be invited to attend at least a few summer soirees, so make sure you’re prepared to party with your new wingman; the HYDAWAY Collapsible Insulated Drink Tumbler. Not only do they look good, they help combat the damage caused by single-use plastics (the use of which is at an all-time high – thanks to COVID-19.)

But I’ll recycle!

We know you have good intentions. Using one-time-use plates and cups with the little recycle symbol on the bottom makes a lot of us feel like we’re doing the right thing. But the reality is, anything sticky with residue, soiled with food waste, and stained with grease isn’t generally eligible for recycling.

Ever-popular Solo cups are a party staple and commonly make appearances at outdoor gatherings and get-togethers. With the #6 recycle symbol stamped on the bottom, many people think they can toss these cups into their green bins to be recycled. Unfortunately, #6 products aren’t typically accepted by the street trucks that pick up recycling, which means most Solo cups (made from slow-to-degrade, environmentally-harmful polystyrene) get dumped into a landfill or our oceans if not disposed of properly. There have been some efforts to change this, however. Shout out to innovative waste management companies like TerraCycle that offer free shipping labels to people interested in mailing a box of their used solo cups for recycling. Although–as always–the most effective way to increase planet health is not to use single-use plastic at all.

That’s where we come in

At HYDAWAY, we recognize the need for ease and convenience when it comes to enjoying your beverage of choice this summer. Our Tumblers are the perfect planet-friendly alternative to Solo cups (and other single-use drinking vessels) that can go where you go. These 16 OZ tumblers accommodate both hot and cold beverages and compress down into a 1-inch thick disk when not in use. Made from food-grade silicone, our tumblers are non-toxic and plastic free which means you don’t have to worry about ingesting microplastics or any weird aftertaste.

Whether you’re transporting your iced tea to a picnic spot, slurping down a smoothie on your way out the door, crafting your favorite to-go cocktail, or waiting in line for a keg refill at a boozy backyard bash, HYDAWAY tumblers are the go-to choice when you want to put the environment first and not look out of place. Each tumbler comes with a foam sleeve that protects your hands and keeps hot beverages hot and cold beverages cold. Choose from solid-colored sleeves or one’s inspired by nature for a little more pizzazz.

Not to brag, but we literally thought of everything when we created these tumblers! Shop our tumblers now so you can sip, stow, and go on with your day.
