With the days getting longer and winter in the far distance, traveling the world is starting up again. In a recent study from Tripadvisor, 48% of people are planning to travel this summer. As the vaccinations increase, popular places are opening up again for tourists. 

In this post, we will highlight the top five travel destinations you should check out this summer. We feature their top attractions, cities to see, and what makes them so special. 

1. Hawaii, United States

Oahu, Hawaii

If you are looking for bright blue waters, fresh poke, and endless outdoor activities look no further than Hawaii. Hawaii has 7 inhabited islands. The most popular islands for tourism are Oahu and Maui.

Beyond being open, it is one of the most popular travel destinations in Europe with thousands of tourists visiting every year.

3. Alaska, United States

4. Greece

Athens, Greece

Greece is another European country open to almost all travelers with a COVID test or valid vaccine. Whether it be a walk through historic Athens or a trip to the islands painted in blue and white, there is so much to see. 

The weather is almost always sunny, food is affordable, there are endless museums and so much history along the way. This is why 33.1 million tourists visit each year. 

The top places to visit in Greece are Santorini, Athens, and Mykonos. Given the short distance between all these places, hitting all three is recommended. Top attractions include the Acropolis, touring the cliff town Oia, boating, and checking out the historic churches. The greek culture is sure to have you eating gyros, floating in the sun, and soaking up the legends of the greek gods. 

5. Belize

Belize is one of the most underrated Caribbean destinations. From Mayan ruins and National parks to some of the best snorkeling in the world, there is no shortage of things to do in Belize. Plus it is open to almost anyone with a COVID test or a valid vaccine. The most popular islands to see are San Pedro and Caye Caulker. On both of these islands, you will find sandy beaches, rare fishes, boating tours, and a laid-back island lifestyle. Making it perfect if you are looking to relax with a cold drink in your hand.

The other city worth checking out is San Ignacio. This is in inland Belize and is close to 5 different Mayan ruin sites. This city is also popular for adrenaline seekers. With activities featuring cave tubing, ziplining, and thrilling ATV trips through the jungle. San Ignacio also can offer a real taste of authentic Mayan culture so make sure you try the stew.
